About Us

Far Bank Pre-school is a registered charity which was formed in 1981 and is based within the grounds of Shelley First School in Shelley. This highly rated pre-school is an essential community resource for parents and children alike, providing daily care and education for children from the age of 2½ until they go to school. The children are cared for in a friendly nurturing atmosphere that they enjoy and thrive on.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in our efforts to raise enough money for a new building for our pre-school. On the 29th July 2008 the old building was demolished. The site was then prepared for the new building by a volunteer team from Yorkshire Water. On the 12th August 2008 the new building was delivered (a big thank you to Peter Armitage at the Actiform Group for being so helpful with the new building) and with the help of volunteers we were ready to open on the 8th September 2008.

We can now offer 24 places per session for pre-school aged children. Going forward we are also hoping to provide a lunchtime club for pre-school children as well as breakfast, after school and holiday care for school age children (Watch this space).
